Create Your Own Green Smoothie

  • 1cup fruitfrozen ( I used mango, strawberry, orange and pineapple)
  • 2cups greensloosely packed (I used fresh baby spring mix and frozen kale stems)
  • 1.5 – 2cups nondairy milk or water(I used water since I like more of a juice consistency)
  1. Add everything to a blender pitcher and blend on high to a smooth consistency.

Optional add-ins: flax, chia, or hemp seeds, protein powder, maca root powder, green tea extract.

Macros for today’s ingredients, including 1 scoop Vega One all-in-one nutritional shake in French Vanilla:
20 grams protein, 44 grams carbohydrates, 4 grams fat

*If you have a Vitamix you can use the tamper to push everything towards the blade. If you have a regular blender, just remember to put the fresh fruits & veggies on the bottom and the frozen stuff on top. That way your blade can be free to do it’s thing, rather than getting locked up. The more frozen ingredients you use, the more liquid you will need to add. With practice you can eyeball everything like a pro!

Experiment with different combinations and find your favorite. If you like sweeter smoothies, use sweet fruits like bananas, grapes and pineapple. You can even throw in a pitted date or two to make drinking your greens more fun. Over time you might notice your palate change, and you will use no sweetener and stronger greens like mustard and collards. Or you just might find that your smoothie is perfection – and you don’t mess with perfection! Either way, you win because you are fueling your body for life.
